Career Opportunities

Carrington, Hall & Hamburg is a modern firm which managed to create a very personal atmosphere while maintaining highest professionalism. Among our clients there are major foreign undertakings having investments in Latvia as well as a large number of Latvian companies.

We bring two long-standing principles to the practice of law: provide the best services available and maintain the high professional standards that have distinguished our firm for years.

To uphold these principles we depend on the collective expertise and abilities of our people, coupled with the core values that have driven our firm since its inception: integrity, dedication, quality, community and partnership.

Carrington, Hall & Hamburg invests therefore considerable time and effort in the selection of future associates with ability, enthusiasm and motivation.

Associates

When an Associate joins our firm, he or she indicates the areas of law he or she is most interested in. We encourage our Associates to specialize in particular fields of law. We delegate responsibility to our Associates at an early stage of their professional career under the supervision of an experienced Partner.

We realize that Associates who have contributed to our success for a substantial period of time, may be interested in a partnership.

Our firm is not a "closed shop". The requirements for becoming a Partner are well established and have to be equally met by all candidates. In addition to an outstanding record and exceptional performance, excellent professional capabilities are essential.

Partnership is typically granted six to eight years after the bar exam. The partnership-potential of an Associate is discussed after approximately the third year. After the fifth year, he or she is promoted to Senior Associate which is a clear indication of the candidate's potential. Approximately one to two years later, a decision on the admission to partnership is made.

Other positions

Our continued success also depends on a reliable and flexible support staff. We offer interesting job opportunities to receptionists, secretaries and accounting assistants. Job requirements include Latvian or Russian mother-tongue, as well as sound knowledge of English. Additional languages such as German, French, Spain or Swedish are highly valued.

Essential is the outstanding user-end knowledge of common PC programs and the ability to work independently.
